CQUniversity Study Mapping Renewable Energy Workforce in CQ (2025)
Central Queensland is becoming Australia’s renewable energy powerhouse.
A new report from CQUniversity, funded by Central Queensland Power (CQP), reveals that the construction and operation of solar and wind farms in Central Queensland could more than double the region’s renewable energy workforce by 2029.
The report shows that Solar Farm construction jobs are projected to grow by 124%, and Wind Farm construction jobs by 110%. Operational roles will also nearly double, creating hundreds of positions. This surge in employment will span across project managers, engineers, technicians, tradespeople, and casual installation crews, creating opportunities for both highly skilled professionals and local workers. The report also highlights significant indirect job creation through supply chains, amplifying the economic impact across the region. Click here to read the report in.
