Accelerating the energy transition in Central Queensland
The Project
The Wooderson Solar Farm (the Project) is a 450 megawatt (MW) solar PV energy project located approximately 40 km south-west of Gladstone and 20km west of Calliope, in Central Queensland. The Project will include the development of a solar farm and associated infrastructure, including access tracks, electrical reticulation cables, substation, and a connection to the grid.
The Project is being delivered by Central Queensland Power (CQP). CQP has a portfolio of wind, solar, and battery storage projects with a capacity of over 4GW.
CQP’s vision is to accelerate the transition of Central Queensland’s power supply towards firmed renewable energy, meeting the region’s ongoing energy needs whilst securing the future of heavy industry, a key employer and economic driver for the region.

A Greener Future
CQP is committed to preserving the environment and minimising environmental impacts associated with our Projects. By replacing electricity generated from other sources such as fossil fuel power stations, renewable energy can lead to an overall reduction in Queensland’s carbon emissions.
Powering more than 235,000 homes each year
Contributing to the Queensland Renewable Energy Target of 50% renewable electricity by 2030.
Opportunities to coexist with existing agricultural operations
The Project design is considering opportunities to coexist with, and minimise impacts to, existing agricultural operations.
Minimising vegetation clearing by using existing cleared areas
The Project design prioritises the use of previously cleared areas, which account for over 99% of the total disturbance footprint.
Offsetting 870,000 tonnes of CO2 annually
That’s the equivalent of planting 20 million trees every year.
Benefits
Economy
